Developing Africa’s future STEM leaders.

Through our primary project, the African Science Academy, we seek out academically gifted young women with a passion for Maths and Science from across Africa and provide them with a world-class STEM education - all on full scholarships.

We believe that women and girls should be at the forefront of Africa’s STEM future. We develop the potential of our students and provide them with the support and confidence they need to be future leaders.

Tackling the gender imbalance in STEM

In Africa, and beyond, women and girls are remarkably underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) industries and university courses. Many girls are actively discouraged from pursuing science in high school, assuming they complete their secondary education. At the African Science Academy we seek out gifted young women to provide them with a world-class STEM education and develop them into future STEM leaders.

Cultivating socially conscious leaders

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond our school programme. Throughout their time at ASA, our students are encouraged to find practical solutions to Africa's problems. With regular guest speakers from organisations such as Facebook, we instil them with leadership skills and a sense of responsibility to help their communities and to tackle Africa's problems through STEM.

Improving maths education across Ghana

We run ‘Maths Master Classes’ across Ghana to provide secondary school Maths teachers with advanced teacher training. The aim is to contribute to improving the overall quality of STEM education in Ghana and ensuring students who want to pursue STEM carerers have a strong foundation in Maths education.
